Understanding the NLRB Process
Forming a union in the U.S. is protected by federal law. Here's how the process works under the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
Sign Authorization Cards
Workers sign cards indicating interest in union representation. These are legally protected and confidential.
Reach 30% Support
Once 30% of workers sign cards, you can petition the NLRB for an election. Most organizers aim for 60-70% for a stronger position. We help here.
Win the Election
The NLRB conducts a secret-ballot election. If a majority vote "yes," the union is certified as your official representative.
Negotiate Your Contract
After certification, your employer is legally required to bargain in good faith for wages, benefits, and working conditions.

Questions new visitors ask first
Uniform encrypts your posts and messages on your device before they leave it. Your private keys never leave your device. We keep no personal identifiers on our servers — no name, email, or phone number attached to your account. See the Technical Information page for exact limits and metadata details.
Yes. Uniform is free to use.
You can still continue. Use the "Don't see your company?" path during signup to create a new workplace entry, then complete registration and start organizing.
Yes. Workers can browse the organizer directory, read public organizer profiles, start encrypted direct messages, and invite an organizer into their My Location space when they want guidance, support, or help.
A worker invites the organizer from the My Location space. The organizer stays pending until a second worker in that same location seconds the invite. After that second confirmation, the organizer can participate in the feed for that workplace.
Yes. Workers in that location can remove the organizer later, which ends the organizer's access to that workplace feed.
Uniform does not store private personal information like your name, date of birth, email, or phone number on our servers. Some outside data, like payment details, can still exist through external providers, but our system is designed so payment data cannot be linked back to your organizing identity. For the strongest privacy available, you can also pay with an anonymous crypto wallet instead of traditional payment rails.
In the United States, a union authorization card is a private statement saying you want union representation at your workplace. Signing a card is not the same as voting in a union election, and it does not mean you start paying dues right away. Dues only begin after the union is certified and a contract is negotiated.
Yes. The mobile app is configured for both iOS and Android, and billing/provider handling supports Apple App Store and Google Play flows.
Use the in-app invite flow to share your workplace join link. On web you can copy or share the register link, and on mobile there is a Share Invite Link action in settings and the main feed drawer.
